Abstract
For the past decade, we have been continuing chemical educational activities for junior high school students of the Tannan area. Visiting lectures (Demae-Kougi in Japanese) consisting of classes and experiments are one of the activities, which are also important as a regional contribution. Moreover, the co-operation through visiting lectures between Fukui National College of Technology and junior high schools is especially effective in facilitating the transition of the educational process from junior high school to college and in introducing the curriculum of our school. In 2006, we held a visiting lecture entitled, “The principles of a variety of electrochemical cells.” This lecture was designed to contribute to students’ understanding of the principles of energy. The purpose of this project has been accomplished, since most junior high school students responded in the questionnaire survey that they had enjoyed the program and had understood the mechanism of electrochemical cells.
