In order to develop
problem-solving abilities, students need to improve their communication skills
through beneficial problem solving in a group setting. In this study, we
introduced “learning from each other” to fourth-year students in Quantum
Chemistry, a subject consisting of semiempirical and ab initio
molecular orbital calculations. We also introduced the same system of learning
to fourth-year students in Instrumental Analysis II, which consists of problems
for determining chemical structure by NMR, IR, and mass spectra. In
Coordination Chemistry and Electrochemistry in fifth-year students, the student’s
presentations were reviewed each other to improve their presentation ability.
Key words: Problem-solving ability, Peer-review type presentation
